Kmart Associates and Customers Aim To Give Every Baby A Healthy Start

Kmart has been the #1 Contributor to the March of Dimes for 23 Consecutive Years

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., FEB. 15, 2007 -- Kmart's annual in-store fund-raising campaign for 2007 will kick off on February 18 at all Kmart stores, including in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam.  The retailer has been the largest contributor of the March of Dimes for 23 years. Since 1983, Kmart customers and associates have contributed more than $55 million towards giving every baby a healthy start through the March of Dimes, including more than $6 million in 2006.

“We owe the success of this campaign to Kmart's customers and associates who so generously embrace the March of Dimes and its mission,” said Aylwin Lewis, President and CEO of Sears Holdings Corporation. “We feel privileged to join in the effort to discover new ways of giving every baby a healthy start, and we know our customers will continue to open their hearts to an initiative that is so important to families everywhere.” Kmart customers can purchase a paper sneaker and make a donation of $1, $5 or $10 at any store cash register through May 12.  Customers can also sign up to participate in March of Dimes' WalkAmerica, which takes place during the last weekend in April in most communities.

“We are deeply grateful to Kmart customers for their sustained commitment to the health of America's babies,” said March of Dimes President Dr. Jennifer L. Howse.  “With their support, we have saved thousands of lives, reduced the toll of disability, and brought hope and comfort to families across the nation.”
