Questions & Answers

Is it possible to have too much folic acid?

There is no known toxic level for folic acid. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests that women consume no more than 1,000 micrograms (1 milligram) of folic acid per day. If you eat a diet rich in folate and take 400 microgram folic acid supplement, you will still fall well within the recommended range.
