TITLE: NICU Family Support Specialist
REPORTS TO: Director of Program Services, Misouri Chapter of the March of Dimes
LOCATION: St. Louis, Missouri
REASON FOR OPENING: Replacement
POSITION PURPOSE:
To implement a March of Dimes NICU Family Support Program ® at St. Louis Children’s Hospital that will provide information and comfort to NICU families, will contribute to staff professional development, and will promote the ideals of family centered care.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- ~ Implement a comprehensive March of Dimes (MOD) NICU Family Support Program, consisting of:
- Direct interfacing with NICU families at the bedside
- Planning, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive NICU family support modules
- Planning professional education development opportunities for staff
- Networking with other MOD NICU Family Support Specialists
Recruiting, training, and monitoring volunteers to assist in this program Regular reporting / communicating to MOD chapter, region, and national offices of program activities
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- ~ Masters preferred level of education in either Social Work, Nursing, Counseling, Public Health, or related field; Bachelor’s acceptable if accompanied with adequate personal and /or professional experience in a NICU
- Excellent program planning and management skills
- Excellent communication skills in dealing with families in crisis
- Excellent networking and communication skills in dealing with a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals
- Excellent volunteer recruitment and management skills
- A passion to help NICU families
