TITLE: Assistant Community Director
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
LOCATION: Memphis, TN
REASON FOR OPENING: Replacement
POSITION PURPOSE:
With appropriate volunteer support, this position is accountable for coordinating and assisting with a variety of fundraising events. This position acts as liaison between March of Dimes, its volunteers, and the local community which it serves by recruiting volunteer participation, corporate participation, and sponsorship within the Memphis and surrounding area.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruit, orient, and train volunteers to organize a successful March for Babies event
- Serve as liaison to the March for Babies Planning Committee
- Responsible for a portion of the overall March for Babies budget including specific teams to manage
- Assist with Signature Chefs Gala including a portion of the overall budget
- Maintain record keeping including updating Special Event Management tool and March for Babies Management tool
- Develop and maintain working relationships with community leaders and organizations to promote March of Dimes message and build support for the March of Dimes mission
- Manage and provide leadership to volunteers to ensure that they can accomplish tasks required for a successful event
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalent required
- Detail oriented, adaptable, organized and able to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks
- Computer skills, especially Word and Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Volunteer management and development experience
- Public speaking ability and experience
