POSITION PURPOSE:
Conducts relevant and timely perinatal epidemiologic analyses. Summarize findings and their implications for the March of Dimes mission in multiple formats including issue briefs, newsletters, Perinatal Data Center publications and peer-reviewed journal articles to reach both public and professional audiences, including the media when appropriate. Present findings at professional conferences and for March of Dimes staff and volunteers. Provide technical assistance on epidemiologic/statistical issues as needed.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct and manage multiple relevant and timely perinatal epidemiologic/statistical analyses that contribute to the March of Dimes mission.
Expand the Perinatal Data Center’s national and state/local perinatal health database to more specifically meet the information needs of the organization.
Share research findings through Perinatal Data Center and other March of Dimes products (e.g., PeriStats web site), publications in peer reviewed journals and presentations at health professional conferences.
Respond to external requests for information and provide technical assistance on perinatal data issues to chapter and national office staff and volunteers, or other health professionals, students and the media, when appropriate.
Assist other National Office departments in the review of press releases, public education and other materials. Collaborate with other departments at the National office to coordinate the development of relevant products and services.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Master’s degree or Doctorate in public health or equivalent in related field (e.g., epidemiology, health services research).
2-4 years of experience.
Proficiency in SPSS and/or SAS.
Proficiency with basic epidemiologic research and statistical methods
Experience with grant writing a plus.
Effective communication skills, particularly technical writing skills
