  TITLE: Assistant Community Director

REPORTS TO: Director, March for Babies

LOCATION: Chicago, IL

REASON FOR OPENING: Replacement

POSITION PURPOSE:
This position is accountable for fundraising, managing and directing several March for Babies events including all aspects of corporate sponsorship, volunteer recruitment and management, recognition and walker recruitment, corporate sponsorship, promotions and logistics. With appropriate volunteer support, this position is accountable for coordinating and implementing cost-effective fundraising and supporting communication and program activities. This position acts as liaison between March of Dimes (MOD), its volunteers, and the local community in which it serves by recruiting volunteer participation, corporate participation, and sponsorship within that community.  The position reports to the State Director of March for Babies.  

 



POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Recruit, orient, train, manage and monitor performance of volunteers to organize events that meet or exceed fundraising goals; educate team captains, walkers and volunteers on the March of Dimes mission for the purpose of gaining and retaining their commitment and meeting their financial goals of their companies and/or teams.
  • Solicit sponsorships, new company teams, family teams to participate in the March of Dimes largest fundraiser, March for Babies. Reach financial goal by working the areas of volunteer development, sponsorship, new teams and event satisfaction.
  • Monitor & recruitment of walkers and corporate teams.
  • Work with media and Communications Department to publicize mission/events, and secure local sponsorship for events to heighten public awareness and reach fundraising goals
  • With support from volunteers, coordinate all event logistics, in-kind and event materials to ensure success of events. Develop and implement events to recognize, reward, and motivate successful volunteers
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records/data to evaluate cost-effectiveness, profitability, and public awareness of events and/or program activities.  .
  • Work with program staff and volunteers to ensure that every event contains program content to enhance the knowledge of the audience and general public regarding the March of Dimes mission, programs, special services and benefits for mothers and babies.
  • Coordinate a fundraising event that takes place in the fall. Work with the committee to grow the event, solicit sponsorship and event participants. Responsible for all logistics and the overall event.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Computer skills – Word and Excel ; Verbal and written communications skills, sales and marketing.
  • Detail oriented, adaptable, organized and able to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks.
